A week of daily diary comics

Instagram caption: I was trying to think of something interesting to draw and I remembered a couple of weeks ago a woman and her daughter having this particular conversation as they walked by my house, but the mum didn't see that I was actually sat on the step and heard everything. She was very embarrassed when I came into view and tried to cover it up by going into great detail about her own pets so that I knew she was a cat-lover. To be fair, my cat is rather... unusual. He is a Cornish Rex and looks more like an alien than a feline, so yeah, I get it, he's an acquired taste 🤭🐾

Instagram caption: Its like treasure hunt, only with bits of hot dog, keeps her interested and sniffing for long enough that she's as satisfied and content as she would have been on her walk, and I feel a lot less guilty for being a rubbish dog owner!

Instagram caption: So far I have helped a pair of blackbirds and a pair of bluetits feed their young. I also have a pair of house sparrows with all their teen offspring who frequent my buffet, two shifty magpies, and three obese wood pigeons. Its quite expensive.

Instagram caption: We had a good talk today at work about mental health by David Beeney, author or Breaking the Silence – and this is what stuck with me – if you feel that someone is struggling, a good way to help them open up about it is to ask them how they are, then ask them how they are... really! I can vouch that this is powerful stuff, and it does actually work. It has been done on me before by a trusted friend, and it felt good to be given the opportunity to be real 😌💚

Instagram caption: The buds were so beautiful, hot pink, but they just never opened. It was very sad. Have to say, this isn't the only gardening disaster I've encountered this year. My tomato plants all perished before I got them out into garden, which was largely my fault for letting them fry on my windowsill. My sweet peas grew so tall and all the flowers cane out, but now the lower leaves have all turned yellow and the whole plant is withering away. My entire garden is a tragedy 😢
