Multitasking: My hypomanic superpower (a bipolar cartoon about hypomania)

Bipolar cartoon about hypomania - funny black and white drawing of a girl multitasking on several computers

When my mood moves into a more elevated state (usually due to stress) I get this awesome superpower that empowers me to do ALL OF THE THINGS… AT ONCE!

I’m shouting this because it’s not actually a superpower, it’s mania.

Or rather, ‘hypomania’, which is something I experience symptoms of as part of my mental health disorder.

When I posted this bipolar cartoon about hypomania on LinkedIn back in Feb 2024, (I’m publishing it here with the original date too) I was unemployed, very stressed out, and multitasking like a maniac.

It was a Monday morning and I wrote: “9am start for me - nobody can accuse me of lazing around in bed on a Monday morning. Anyone hiring content writers this week... here I come!”

I don’t remember exactly what rabbit hole this lead me down, but it probably resulted in the inevitable depressive crash the following day, which is what tends to happen once I’ve reached my peak point on the mood scale.

If only it was a real superpower and lasted long enough for me to actually lift off and fly – Oh the things I could achieve.

Sigh.
