Mental health support at work

Cartoon about mental health support at work - black and white drawing of employees at different levels supporting each other in a pyramid

I wanted to do another post about Mental Health Awareness Week, as my previous one was a bit sobering. Plus, we had a mental health meeting at my new workplace this week, which inspired this cartoon.

When someone is struggling with their mental health at work and needs support, it can put strain on the whole team, and especially the managers. Bauer Media focuses on providing managers with the training and resources they need to support not only the team member in crisis, but also the whole team, and themselves.

I love that we have internal programmes and courses aimed at fostering wellbeing in the workplace that are available to anyone in the company who wants to enrol, and there are also opportunities to become a Mental Health First Aider, of which they already have over 70. There are various counselling and services available to those in need too.

I have already felt the benefits of the company’s pro-mental health reputation within the Mother&Baby team. Everyone is approachable and actively aware of wellbeing. They’re always ready and willing to step in to see if you’re doing okay and if there’s anything they can do to help.

I think my work place is a great example of how companies can do mental health support and mental health awareness well 💚
